We love receiving "thank you" cards in the mail from the brides and grooms that we work with (I mean, who wouldn't?). Getting these mean so much to us and they make us realize that our hardwork hasn't gone unnoticed.

This year has been a special one for us. Not only have we received beautiful thank-you's in the mail but every bride has emailed us the day after their wedding (some even the night of!!) thanking us for our work with their flowers. 2011 Wedding Season is in Full Bloom!--and Some Other News

Hello All!

Spring is definitely here with all of this rain! My lawn has never looked so green...But dont worry, the scorching sun of the New England summer is just around the corner (and so is my burnt brown grass..) =(

But the summer also means lots of weddings! And we are excited about all of them. Each and every one has such a distinct style. Whether we are hanging moss balls from the rafters above the dance floor

or filling mercury glass containers with romantic white ranunculus and soft pink peonies, they are all so beautiful and unique just like the couples themselves.

Here are a few glimpses of some recent weddings from 2011 and a few from late 2010.

We are now proudly carrying Linaloo Designs! Jennifer Malone, of Melrose MA creates funky vintage, hand-made keychains, little girl hair accessories and doggie collars all made out of reclaimed cashmere and wool! Visit her website at www.linaloos.com to see more!

Some more news...Our May 26th Floral Design filled up completely in two days! Thank you everyone for your interest. We will be sending out more future dates and lots of fun ideas for classes.

Also, we know this is a little late, but THANK YOU to all of the ladies involved with the Winchester Chamber of Commerce, Women Helping Women,WHW (especially Dot and Kim!). We loved being a part of the 500+ person fashion show in April and we think the martini glass centerpiece went perfect with the ladies-night-out theme! The response from the show has been overwhelming too. Our retail business has skyrocketed since then and we cannot be more appreciative! We love the Winchester community and are looking forward to Town Day in a few weeks. We just celebrated our 1 Year anniversary in Winchester and we have loved every minute of it. Looking forward to the following years to come...

Happy New Year everyone! We are excited to announce that we will be listed as a member at the soon-to-open BBL (boston bridal lounge). The BBL is the brainchild of Kerri Esposito-Bruneau and Eleni Granas.

It will be a unique space where engaged couples can resource wedding professionals and top notch services. It's sort of like a wedding concierge service with a twist! Stop in for your glass of champagne or cappucino and get ready to delve into the wedding planning!

So after some hesitation--because it was July and wedding season was in full-gear---we agreed to host a Stella and Dot jewelry party for a dear friend. FINO's back to the blogging world...Some June Wedding favorites

Sorry folks for totally slacking on the blogging. Just after completing a few grueling months of construction on our studio, the busy wedding season began! We know, we know...these are just poor excuses. We even took such cool "after" pictures of our renovated studio space BUT of course they are saved on another computer. We'll get those up here at some point.. Maybe at our 20th year anniversary. ;)

Moving on to more exciting news. Here are some of our favorite shots from a couple of recent June weddings.

Alisa & Chris June 2010- Willowdale in Topsfield MA

It was so great working with Alisa and Chris. They knew exactly what they wanted (Alisa is a designer/artist so she has an incredible eye for things!) but left a lot of the overall design up to us. We loved their passion for unique flowers and their attention to detail making sure everyting coincided with their "enchanted garden" theme. Their centerpieces were coppery-brown chargers filled with a bed of moss, succulents and clusters of flowers. Manzanita branches sprayed in a deep chocolate brown were placed into the moss bed laying assymetrically. The escort card table was made up of 4 large coppery-brown chargers filled with a low bed of moss. Alisa wrote the name of each guest on flat black river rocks and placed them on the moss in rows. The chocolate brown manzanitas placed in a tall cylinder filled with the rocks and orchids tied to the branches added the finishing touch. The bouquet below was one of the bridesmaids. The overall colors of the wedding were emerald green, chocolate brown and magenta/purple tones. Willowdale is such a unique beautiful spot tucked away in the woods ofTopsfield. This wedding was a perfect fit for the venue. Congrats to Alisa and Chris! Thank you for letting us take part in your special day.

Flora & Rory (aka "Flory") June 2010 -Boston Public Library

You know when you meet that couple that is just so darn cute together it makes you want to.....well, that's Flory! We couldnt get over how adorable these two were. During their mock-up meeting they were both so into the centerpiece and sharing in the discussion on what flowers they loved and the ones they werent so crazy about. The enthusiasm that they shared in planning their wedding together was admirable! Their theme for their library wedding was just that...books. Oh and, lots of romantic and elegant touches. The flowers were lush and whimsical. We used cream tones with blends of orange-peach and pink hues too. The peonies and hydrangea and lots of roses helped make the arrangements full and soft looking. Flora and Rory, we wish you a wonderful life together! Thanks for choosing Fino!

Grand Opening-Thursday May 6th 10am-5pm

We are finally ready to open our doors at our new studio location in dowtown Winchester. The past month or so has been really crazy with all of the renovating and moving but over this time we've come to realize just how great our location is. Who wouldn't love being a stones throw away from Starbucks (there's a Dunkins too!)?! And what about Lucia's Ristorante?! The best tasting Italian food comparable to the North End....delicious. Every modern day convenience is just a short walk from our front door. We've also come to love the strong sense of community that Winchester has. Everyone has been so friendly and accomodating--are we still in Massachusetts? ;) I've had to pinch myself a few times....

So it's official--Fino is moving!! As of May 1st we will be operating out of our new studio, 25 Thompson Street, located in the heart of downtown Winchester.

We are in the process of renovating the space and finding some new furnishings. It's a bit overwhelming since it's almost 3 times the size of our current location. There isn't a ton of work to be done, mainly just new floors and paint. The space is really great overall!

As excited as we are, we will really miss our old studio. Especially our fantastic landlords and surrounding business owners. Not to mention the city of Melrose and it's wonderful community.

We look forward to our new stomping grounds in Winchester and we hope that you come and stop by to see us! We will be holding an official OPEN HOUSE soon so check back for the details on that!

Emily & Eric 12-19-09

We had the absolute pleasure of working with Emily & Eric this past Saturday at the State Room in Boston. The style was mod but totally glam! Platinum and black lined linens, deep saturated red flowers, lots of crystals, black feathers, clusters of red votives and sparkly silver branches completed the look. Her bouquet was winter white: peonies, ranunculus, calla lilies and hydrangea accented with crystals and the girls were deep red: peonies, ranunculus, calla lilies and black magic roses.
There were 2 different types of centerpieces.
The low centerpiece was made up of 3 low glass cylinders filled with silver balls surrounded by clusters of red glass votives. The tall centerpiece had glittery silver branches coming out of the top with chandelier crystals hanging off a few of the branches. We also added crystal sprays coming out of the bottom of the centerpiece. Red james storie orchids were submerged in the tall glass container. The arrangement was surrounded by red orchids below and clusters of red glass votives. Both centerpieces were filled with deep red antiqued hydrangea, peonies, roses, kangaroo paws, orchids and calla lilies.
Another great feature of this wedding was the lined red votives along the railing of the entire room.

But the best feature of all was working with Emily and her mom. They both had fabulous ideas for the flowers but were also open to all of our ideas too. Emily was so relaxed and fun to work with.

FINO Does Holiday Home Decor

This is our second Christmas at our studio in Melrose and lots of local folks have welcomed us into their homes asking us to dress them up a bit for the holiday season. Below are a few photos of a home we just put together for a wonderful woman named Marie. Her home is already so beautiful inside; it was easy to make it look even more beautiful. She has a lot of blue, brown and golds in her house so we decided to stay with those tones instead of the usual holiday reds and greens.

The fireplace mantle, staircase and feathered wreath all share the same color scheme.

The garland is a mixture of hemlock, pine and other fresh sweet smelling winter greens.

We placed a red feathered wreath on her kitchen table with a red striped glass container in the center holding votives.

The fireplace has a mixture of pine cones, clusters of bells, ornaments and other fun glittery bling pieces. The fresh winter green garland is a great alternative to the artificial ones.

The outside poles are wrapped in the wintery greens. And a bronze planter placed in the kitchen gets decked out in a square hemlock wreath, red and glittered gold branches and touches of ball ornaments and other accents.

The Different Styles

When brides meet with us they often ask us what our style is. We always answer, "whatever you want it to be!"

That's just it though. We create flowers based upon the style and theme that each bride has for their day. We create organic/natural designs with branches and berries, but we also do very traditional designs using the classic stephanotis flower and pearls. I guess if we had to choose just one type of design that we love the most we'd have to say modern/sleek with a touch of romance. Below are some weddings that we've done that are nothing but totally different!! We love the fact that they are all created by us but look nothing alike.

This wedding was at Brooksby Farm in Peabody MA. There's the barn where the dinner reception was held. And this is the centerpiece that we created for the dinner tables. A sheet of moss with blue hydrangea, blue delphinium, green apples and a touch of fiddlehead fern shoots!

Talk about different! This wedding was held in the ballroom of the Fairmont Copley. It was a room changeover, meaning that the ceremony and the dinner were held in the same room. Here we did large white stone containers filled with red antiqued hydrangea and red jamestori orchids and an arch created by hand-curved curly willow branches that we sprayed gold. My favorite part was the red black magic rose petals lining the aisle and the floating candles alongside.

This wedding was at the State Room in Boston. The centerpiece was very sleek with the submerged orchid look in deep magenta and eggplant. Here's a little twist on the classic votive. We cut calla lily heads and wrapped them around the votive for a little wow-factor during the cocktail reception! ;)

Here are a few of the different bouquets we have created in the past few months. It's always hard to get good shots of the bouquets since we are always trying to take the pictures before we drop them off to the bridal party!

Fino's First Blog: 2009 Season "Wrap-up"

Alas, we are joining the rest of society and entering the "blogging" world. We are looking forward to updating you all with new photos of our work and talking about some cool stuff that we are doing in the wedding floral world.

2009 was another great year of weddings and wonderful brides! We enjoyed working at some of our more common venues; the State Room in Boston and the Fairmont Copley but had the pleasure of working at some new places, such as the Cohasset Golf Club, Misselwood at Endicott College, and the Tupor Manor to name a few.
